At Asphalt Materials, Inc., innovation and customer success go hand in hand—recently joining the team, Ron Arredondo brings a passion for both. As a Technical Product Manager, Ron is dedicated to helping customers find the right pavement solutions to improve road performance. His expertise will shine through as he focuses on new technology such as eFlex® Premium Micro Surfacing asphalt emulsion.
In this role, he will provide expert guidance on pavement preservation, offer regional market insights and provide hands-on field support.
“I’m passionate about helping customers discover solutions that not only improve road performance but also contribute to sustainability and long-term value,” says Ron. One of the most rewarding aspects of his work is helping agencies extend the life of their roads in cost‑effective ways by presenting new technologies that fit their unique network needs.
With over a decade of experience in pavement preservation, Ron’s journey began in 2015 at Bergkamp Inc., where he served as the Latin America Sales Territory Manager. In that role, he expanded access to advanced pavement preservation equipment technologies across Latin America and the Caribbean, making a lasting impact on regional infrastructure.
That experience shaped his global perspective on the industry: “Agencies in these regions have far fewer resources, so they have to look for innovative, economical solutions,” Ron says. “That’s why trusting their providers is so important. My approach has always been to present myself as a trusted advisor, understand customers’ local issues, offer them proven solutions and support them through the process.”
Ron’s perspective has shaped his customer-first philosophy, which is evident to those who have experienced his commitment in the field. “During Ron’s time with Bergkamp, I witnessed first-hand his commitment to customer education and service. He believes that empowering customers with knowledge about the benefits of micro surfacing technologies is crucial for fostering widespread adoption and maximizing the value of every project,” says Dave Henderson, AMI Vice President of Specialty Products. “By bridging his equipment expertise with an understanding of AMI’s boots on the ground philosophy, Ron will help our customers achieve reliable, sustainable pavement solutions that stand the test of time.”
By 2020, Ron was leading marketing initiatives that helped agency and contractor customers better understand the value of sustainable pavement strategies — something that continues to drive his work today.
Before entering the pavement preservation industry, Ron built a successful career as a Creative Director in Los Angeles, California where he developed Spanish and English language advertising campaigns for corporate and government clients. He credits that background to shaping his creative thinking and communication style today, helping him learn the value of understanding local challenges and explore solutions using a customer’s point of view.
Ron’s field experience includes projects he still reflects on with pride. Among them is helping a contractor become the first in Puerto Rico to apply micro surfacing. “It was a long process,” he recalls, “but with my guidance and the support of other industry partners, the contractor was able to successfully open up the Puerto Rico market to micro surfacing.”
Looking ahead, Ron sees micro surfacing gaining greater traction across the Midwest: “I see micro surfacing applications becoming more prominent throughout the region, and a premium emulsion like eFlex can help change the mindset of agencies that are apprehensive about using micro.”
Originally from Santiago, Chile, Ron grew up in Los Angeles and now lives in the northern suburbs of Chicago with his wife and two sons. Both Ron and his wife are proud Northwestern University graduates, and when he’s not working to improve road performance, he enjoys spending time with his family and traveling abroad.
