Steve Rooney, sales representative at Bituminous Materials & Supply (BMS), received the 2023 Member of the Year Award through the Asphalt Paving Association of Iowa (APAI).  

Steve has worked for BMS since November of 2018 after working as an asphalt contractor for 23 years. Steve’s responsibilities include managing all sales and customer accounts from both our Tama and Des Moines, Iowa, locations.  

“The people at BMS truly make it an exceptional place to work. From the supportive leadership in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the dedicated employees across the company,” Steve said. “I consider myself fortunate to be surrounded by such a talented and committed team.”

Steve has dedicated over 14 years to APAI from serving on committees to holding board positions and contributing to the overall success of the association. Steve said he has witnessed many people receiving the Member of the Year Award over the years and has long admired them. To find himself among those individuals who received the award was incredibly humbling. The award validated the time, effort and dedication he had poured into the community and the industry. More than just personal recognition, the award is a testament to the mutual benefit derived from his contributions and the association’s growth.
