Asphalt Materials, Inc. hosted a special event for Indiana County Highway Department employees on March 6, 2024. Several learning sessions at the event focused on road preservation and specialty products were presented and attendees were able to tour AMI facilities.

This event was organized by AMI Sales Platform Liaison Ben Hardy, and co-hosted with several others from AMI sales team, The Heritage Group (THG) and The Heritage Research Group (HRG). “We planned the day with the hopes of highlighting the resources and capabilities we are afforded by being a part of The Heritage Group and helping our Indiana county contacts gain a deeper understanding of AMI.” Hardy stated.

The learning sessions included Chip Seal Design Selection and Testing, Cold Pavement Recycling and Road to 30: Innovative Materials and Strategies for Pavement Preservation Today. Each session focused on a different road preservation solution and provided advantages and considerations that should be made when deciding on each. “There are many innovative options for pavement preservation over the life of a pavement” Tim Zahrn, AMI Specialty Products Area Manager, stated. “J-Band is a smart pre-preservation addition for new road construction, using topical sealers like RPE early in the pavement life is another great tool, while chip seal and micro-surfacing are options for pavement 10-20 years old.”

Facility tours of Indianapolis Asphalt Plant and The Center were also offered, where attendees could learn more about THG and see some of the equipment and stages of asphalt processing.
