At our annual Spring Kick Off meeting, Asphalt Materials, Inc. (AMI) team members from different all plant locations and departments across the Midwest came together to celebrate accomplishments from the previous year and share their plans for the year ahead.
While this meeting serves as an important opportunity for our team to align on strategic vision and gain insight into different areas of our business, it’s also a great chance to spend time with each other and champion our fantastic employees. One way we do this is by giving out Core Value Awards to select employees who have been stand-out representations of our company values through the work that they do.

Dave Rassel: Director of Sales

Dave’s exceptional ability to build relationships both internally and externally led him to receiving this award. His ability to easily make connections with members of the AMI sales team, cross-functional teams, and HC&M companies is exemplary. Dave’s strong relationships with customers across Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, and Illinois, as well as his involvement in industry associations, make him a standout leader. Adam Redman, Vice President of Supply and Sales, praises Dave for consistently exemplifying all core values, particularly his skill in building meaningful relationships and representing our brand. “The way that he builds rapport with his team is amazing,” says Adam.

Kit Peregrine: QA/QC Director

Kit is honored for his unwavering commitment to doing the right thing—always. He is a versatile leader, working with several departments, always ready to address any issue. Kit’s proactive approach in finding the best solutions and ensuring compliance is instrumental to our operations. John Washuta, Vice President of Operations, commends Kit for his relentless dedication and problem-solving skills. “If there’s an issue with the plant or the customer, he’s always there,” John notes. Kit expresses his gratitude: “I’m very honored to work with each and every one of you, and happy to be there for anything that comes up.”

Dan Swiertz: Specialty Products Area Technician Manager

Dan’s keen eye for opportunities and his ability to tackle big problems brings great value to our team. His leadership has been influential in the growth of specialty products in Wisconsin, driven by his proactive relationship-building with contractors and county agencies, expanding the market for these products. Todd Thomas, Specialty Products Technical Director, highlights Dan’s technical skills and effective communication, especially during the process of developing our AMIGUARD ™ Rapid Penetrating Emulsion (RPE) formulation. “He has gone above and beyond,” Todd remarks. Dan humbly acknowledges the team effort: “I appreciate the award but it’s really for all of us.”

Katie’s dedication to the HR team and her ability to build meaningful relationships with employees and managers set her apart.
