Watch For Us | Go Orange Day
April had many safety and health awareness initiatives. It is thought of as the beginning of Spring and the start of construction season. More people are typically out and about this time of year. AMI joined the National Asphalt Paving Association and the Watch For Us campaign to drive awareness to the safety of others in construction zones and while we drive without distractions.

3 Keys To High-Performing Milled Rumble Strips
Original Article: Asphalt Institute
By: Dave Johnson, P.E.
“Through the course of conducting my duties for the Asphalt Institute, I have increasingly noticed the use of centerline rumble strips when traveling. I could not help but wonder what, if any, negative effect they might be having on pavement deterioration. My concern stemmed from the fact that the final longitudinal joint on many rural two-wayroadways is at their centerline. So, milling a rumble strip into what is also commonly the most problematic location of a pavement raised concerns for me. That quickly evolved into a desire to make information available on the best ways to install and maintain all rumble strips, especially at the centerline.”
CCAP- Cold Constructed Asphalt Pavement
CCAP or Cold Constructed Asphalt Pavement is a blend of gelled asphalt and additives that is mixed with pre-approved aggregate through a mobile mixing plant. The ability to blend different aggregate during the mixing process creates a mix for application in various thicknesses. Agencies using this material are finding that pavement costs are reduced as much as 30%.
