In order to succeed in the industry, we need to establish a culture where everyone has an opportunity to have their voice heard. In order to ensure this, we have our team of safety professionals! Our team routinely hosts meetings, training sessions, and ‘tool box talks’ to promote open dialogue.

Meet Our Safety Team

Steve Clonce | Environmental Health & Safety Director

Steve leads the safety, compliance, and environmental roles for AMI. Steve is a member of the operations leadership team and directly reports to Chris McGee.

Steve is an Indiana native and Notre Dame fan! Steve comes to AMI from Corteva where he served as the EH&S leader for 4 years and was in an EH&S Responsible Care Leader role for 6 years at Dow Agrosciences prior to his role with Corteva.

Additionally, Steve served in the US Army as a Military Police Officer and graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.

Mike Barclay | Western Regional Safety Manager

Meet Michael Barclay, the newest addition to the AMI team as of February 2022.

With a Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety & Health and 9 years of diverse industry experience. Michael comes to AMI with a wealth of knowledge to tackle his new role.

As the Regional Safety Manager in Iowa, Wisconsin, and Illinois, Michael will be responsible for overseeing the smooth safety operation of plants in these regions, as well as partnering with our trucking division on their safety initiatives.

With his sharp focus on EH&S, Michael is well-equipped to make a positive impact in his new role.

Dick Fortner | East Regional Safety Manager

Welcome Dick Fortner, our newest addition to the AMI team.

Dick spent 35 years in manufacturing, 12 years in EH&S, and 15 years as an operator. Dick joins the AMI team as Regional Safety Manager in eastern regions where he will implement his experiences in environmental, health, and safety.

Married with two grown children, Dick loves to fish and be outdoors. Fun fact: Dick spent many years working in a corn syrup refinery!

Brian Krie | Central Regional Safety Manager

Introducing Brian Krie, our latest addition to the regional safety management team for our Central plant regions!

Brian joined our team on March 27th, bringing in 25 years of experience in EH&S. As a Certified Associate Safety Professional (ASP) and Certified Safety & Security Officer, Brian is dedicated to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our teams.

When he is not busy making sure everything runs smoothly, Brian enjoys spending time on his lavender farm where he and his wife create and sell amazing lavender-based products.

With a family of his own, Brian knows firsthand how important safety is, and that’s why he is committed to providing the best possible safety measures for everyone on our team.
