Registration is now open for the Asphalt Emulsion Manufacturers Association (AEMA)’s 2024-2025 LEAP program. LEAP is a 12-month immersive program aimed at developing members of the asphalt emulsion industry and is intended for AEMA Members looking to increase their knowledge of the asphalt emulsion industry. The program includes general education requirements through the University of Arkansas, various jobsite and facility tours, and a report at the AEMA Annual Meeting upon program graduation.
Asphalt Material’s Sales Representative Nate Jenkins and Heritage Research Group’s Senior Asphalt Research Chemist Campbell Higbie are part of the 2023-2024 LEAP class. Asphalt Materials, Inc. Emulsion Technical Coordinator Kim Gessner and Research Engineer Andrew Eicher graduated from the 2022-2023 program.
“My favorite part of being in the LEAP class was the friendships I have gained, while learning new things about the asphalt industry,” said Kim. “Participants can expect to learn about the asphalt emulsion industry as a whole. Tours, classes, and training are all part of the year-long program. All while networking and making new friends along the way.”
Get Involved
Those interested can get involved by sharing interest with their managers. A company is able to have up to two participants each year as part of the 12–15-person LEAP class. Each individual company chooses their participants every year, AEMA does not choose who will be in each class. If interested, begin registration through AEMA.
Upcoming AEMA LDT Webinar
Kim Gessner and Nate Jenkins will be presenting on the LEAP program during an AEMA Leadership Development Team (LDT) webinar on October 18 at 1 p.m. EST. They, along with two additional members of the LDT will discuss the background and implementation of the LEAP program, last year’s LEAP program, the current program, and its benefits will be shared in anticipation of upcoming LEAP classes. Multiple perspectives on the LEAP program will be shared from the Class Dean, a LEAP participant, and a LEAP host.
